Badrinath Yatra by Helicopter Starting from 7950 only, Book your journey
Long ago, people had to walk a long way, even on rough paths, to visit holy places in the Himalayas. These trips were tough! Now, ancient stories tell us that as time goes on, it would become easier for people to feel close to the divine or God.
Today, with helicopters, visiting these holy places has become much easier. Helicopters can quickly take people, especially older ones or those who can’t walk far, up to these special spots. Some might wonder: does getting there so easily change the special feeling of the trip? But, in the end, maybe what matters most is the love and faith people have, not how they get there. So, helicopters helping people reach these places might just be a good thing.

Badrinath: A Special Place for Believers
Badrinath is a very important temple for many people. It is said that out of all the temples for Lord Vishnu, Badrinath is the most special. But, people believe that if you go to Badrinath, you should also visit Kedarnath first for the best spiritual experience. These two temples are part of the Char Dham pilgrimage, a journey many believers take.
A famous person named Adi Shankaracharya found the idol worshipped in Badrinath in a river long ago. First, it was kept near some hot springs. Later, a king moved it to where the temple is now. But, this temple has been known and loved for a very long time, even before that.
There’s an old story about two sages, Nar and Narayan. Many believe they were earlier forms of the gods Sri Krishna and Arjuna. These sages did a lot of prayers and rituals in this place. Because of their good deeds, the area became very holy and is now known as Badrinath.
- Age & Weight Limit: Infants who are below 2 years of age or weigh less than 12kg can travel without any charge.
Age Verification: If there’s any doubt about the age of the infant, an ID proof or birth certificate must be shown for verification.
Children Policy: Children older than 2 years will be treated as regular passengers and will need a full ticket.
Type & Limit: Passengers can bring only one handbag, which should be a soft bag or a duffle bag.

- For 5 passengers: Maximum total weight is 350 Kgs.

As of my last update in January 2022, a one-way helicopter ride for Vaishno Devi darshan was typically around ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. This is a general estimate, and prices can change based on demand, season, and other factors. For the most current rates, it’s best to consult the official websites of the service providers or the official website of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
The cost for a trip to Vaishno Devi from Delhi can vary widely depending on the mode of transportation, accommodation preferences, and other factors. For instance:
- Flight: A round-trip flight from Delhi to Jammu can range from ₹4,000 to ₹10,000 or more, depending on when you book and the season.
- Train: Trains are generally more affordable, with prices ranging from ₹500 to ₹2,500 for a one-way trip, depending on the class of travel.
- Accommodation: Hotels in Katra offer a range of prices, from budget lodges to luxury hotels. A night can cost anywhere from ₹500 to ₹5,000 or more.
- Helicopter Ride to the Shrine: As mentioned, this could be around ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 one-way. Additional costs can include meals, local transportation, and any other miscellaneous expenses.
There are usually two main service providers for helicopter services to Vaishno Devi: Pawan Hans Limited and Global Vectra Helicorp Limited. Both are reputable companies, and the choice often comes down to personal preference, availability, and slight price variations. You might also consider checking recent customer reviews for insights into the current service quality.
- First, you’d typically fly or take a train from Delhi to Jammu.
- From Jammu, you can take a cab or bus to Katra.
- From Katra, you can avail of the helicopter service to Sanjichhat, which is close to the shrine. After the helicopter ride, it’s a short trek to the Vaishno Devi temple.
VIP darshan at Vaishno Devi allows pilgrims to have quicker access to the shrine, avoiding the general queue. This is especially useful during peak seasons when the rush is high. Typically, VIP darshan passes have a separate cost and might need to be booked in advance. Some helicopter packages might include priority or VIP darshan as part of their offerings.
